XXX-Dance pics_Oregon and Washington

Tango, Milongas, Practicas, Festivals, Blues, Waltz, Contra

I love to dance, move to the music.  I'm challenged by partner dancing, asking another to move in a certain way to the music. And then there is tango which challenges me in new ways to a higher level of connection with the music and my partner.  I must be fully present in my lead and intention.  I must become one with the music and playfully, in an improvisational manner participate in the creation of each tango moment.

With my photos, I try to capture the essence of dance, the people who love to dance, and the joy of their connection with the music and their partner. This includes the rituals and paraphernalia of dance, from gender roles to high heel shoes.

I hope that you find my dance photos rich with sentiment and expressive of a passionate universality for connection with music and others through body movement.

Guatemala Pics.

I've traveled over 20 times through Central America.  I usually fly into Guatemala and out of Costa Rica on a 3-month trip. I've explored extensively Guatemala, Belize, Honduras, El Salvador, Costa Rica, and Panama.  I love the people, their cultural heritage, the extensive Mayan ruins, the mountains, the jungles,  the beaches, and the food.  These photos were taken with early digital technology.  I'm in the process of digitizing earlier photos from slides.

XXX-Overland through China, Thailand, Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam

I traveled overland in 2001 for 3 and a half months from Bangkok to Thailand, Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, and China.  From Hanoi I entered SW China by train, crisscrossing China to visit many important World Heritage Sites.  I returned home to Portland, Oregon from Beijing.

Photos were taken with Kodak slide film prior to my immersion in the digital age.  Thus photo color and resolution are not nearly as good as compared to each photo projected. They do tell a story, however, and make my adventure more accessible to friends near and far via the web. I hope that you enjoy them.

XXX- The Islands of Malaysia, Indonesia, Borneo,Thailand

In 2004 I embarked on a three and a half month adventure from Bangkok down through the Thai Islands and the Malaysian Peninsula.  From Penang, I took a boat to Sumatra, an island in Indonesia. I then Island hopped as far as the island of Flores before traveling onward to the island of Borneo.

Please excuse the copyright logo. I was having a problem with foreign web sites using my photos for commercial purposes without permission or compensation.

These photos were taken with early digital equipment and have been reduced in pixel size to make them less useful for unauthorized promotional purposes.  They do tell a story, however, and make my adventure more accessible to friends near and far via the web.  I hope that you enjoy them.
